Planning, Research, and Development Tips
Looking for a great resource for business planning and information, look no further than your own state’s .Gov website! If you haven’t explored your state’s .GOV you have been overlooking one of the best FREE resources at your disposal.
Michigan.Gov Summary:
The State of Michigan launched a new business resource site early 2010 called the Michigan Business One Stop (locate the link via the Business & Economic Growth page, off the main http://www.michigan.gov/ home page or click here). There are many information links on that first page but to get to the content you really want, jump on the Michigan Business One Stop top link directly (middle of the page).
The Michigan Business One Stop is the perfect resource and has almost everything you need for research and planning. Including information on financing , business and employer tax obligations and credits, how to incorporate your business, and more. The Michigan One Stop also has a small business planning guide that you can print and use to focus your research and map out your stratedgy. In addition, you can contact your local Michigan Small Business Counseling Center and complete a counseling request form to meet with a certified small business counselor.
Indiana.Gov Summary:
Indiana also has a business resource page under its .Gov’s Business and Employment page. It is not as clean to navigate as the Michigan One Stop and has many links to sidetrack you from your target information. Eventually you would stumble on the Indiana Small Business Development Center. The ISBDC has everything nicely laid out for quick reference and includes business planning guides, tax information, free eBooks, how to raise capital, tutorials, and a readiness assessment.
Ohio.Gov Summary:
Just go to the www.ohio.gov site and click on the BUSINESS link on the top menu bar.
Or… skip all that surfing through those links on the next page and just go to the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Division page. The right side of the page has several good links to browse for information.
The Small Business Development Centers of Ohio is one of the links listed on the Entrepreneurship and Small Business Division page. The SBDC site will help you locate your local SBD center out of the 36 centers across the state. Call your center for information on events and services or make an appointment to meet with one of their Certified Business Advisors®.
